Interfaith dialogue in New York

Межконфессиональный диалог

Round table "Interreligious dialogue about science, spirituality and evolution of mankind" was held on the stage of Lincoln Center in New York on June 14, 2013.

The round table was attended by Swami Vishnudevananda Giri (Mahamandaleshwar in Juno Akhara Hindu monastic order), Lazar Poohalo (Archbishop of Ottawa in the jurisdiction of the Orthodox Church in America), Pilot Babaji (Mahamandaleshwar in Juno Akhara Hindu monastic order), Robert Thurman (writer, public figure, one of the founders of Tibet House US), Pakab Rinpoche ( Tibetan Buddhist lama), Alan Brill (Rabbi, Professor of Cooperman/Ross Charity Fund in Seton Hall University), William Bushel (religious anthropologist), Jonathan Granoff ( Sufi, a representative of the United Religions Initiative).

The main topics were: the integration of new technologies, cultural, moral and spiritual development; the ability to transfer consciousness to an alternative abiotic body and achieve immortality in frame of project "Avatar".

The roundtable participants stressed the importance of bringing spiritual ethics and morality into the development of advanced technologies of the XXI century.

Swami Vishnudevananda Giri noted that the time when science and religion were at odds with each other went away. Science, in order to go forward, needs a new paradigm. This paradigm will be developed in close cooperation with religion and its spiritual experience on the soul, consciousness, and energy.

The roundtable participants approved the project "Avatar", stressing the importance of the development of such technologies. They also agreed that external technologies should not be denied, because they lead society towards progress, but priority should be given to the internal «spirit technology», the path of spiritual development, which everyone must carry within themselves. It was stressed the need to bring spiritual ethics in such technologies, and suggested the establishment of a permanent advisory board composed of spiritual religious leaders, who would help scientists understand the nature of human consciousness.
