Advaita philosophy

Advaita philosophy

Advaita is an ancient doctrine that tells us about human nature as divine initially. "Advaita" can be translated as "not two". Soul is not separated from God. God is a reality that permeates everything.

How it began

Several people were the originators of the Center. More than a decade ago they were inspired by a yoga teacher and a Vedic philosopher, Master Swami Vishnu Dev (Swami Vishnudevananda Giri Ji Maharaj).

Swami was studying yoga and Vedanta under the guidance of the great Indian saint Swami Brahmananda; and was struck by the depth and richness of the philosophy of the Vedic culture. It is multi-layered and could be applied in almost all spheres of life. Swami Ji pointed out the basic directions of the center; and construction of the first buildings of Divya Loka began in 2001. It was on the initiative of the people who have decided to devote all their life to preservation and dissemination of the Vedic knowledge in Russia.

They see the mission of the Center in creating favorable conditions for the revival of high society, ethics and culture, on which the whole Vedic philosophy is built; in organizing events that unite different denominations and organizations in order to promote universal human values to achieve harmony, prosperity and happiness in the world.

As it went on with building, gradually some specialists, deeply interested in Vedanta, were attracted. They were architects, painters, sculptors, professional landscape designers, as well as musicians and translators from Sanskrit. Thanks to them Divya Loka has become what it is now. In each element of the architecture, landscape, and in every translation of a sacred text a deep love of many hearts have been put.

Regular Divya Loka visitors from the cities are happy to participate in the life of the center, and support financially its further construction. They assist in carrying out many projects of the national and international level; making uncontrolled donations, and reviving the ancient Russian tradition of the patronage.

Throughout its existence, the Center, developing in several directions, has grown up into a well-known place of pilgrimage even outside Russia; and was recognized by prominent spiritual leaders from different countries. Divya Loka has earned its great reputation through tolerance, respect for other cultures and traditions, friendly openness to dialogue, and willingness to cooperate in joint activities.
